M70 – Smooth Weld Overlay Plate

M70 is a composite carbide weld overlay designed for the most severe abrasion and impact conditions in mining and mineral processing

M70 is built for the most demanding wear environments, where equipment is exposed to both severe abrasion and severe impact. It is manufactured using a composite alloy of chromium, molybdenum, and vanadium carbides, delivering enhanced hardness and toughness through a metallurgically bonded overlay.

The result is a smooth, crack-free surface that performs reliably in applications where liner wear is aggressive, and shutdowns are costly. M70 is particularly suited to areas with confined access or elevated maintenance risks, where extended wear life is essential to improving operational uptime and safety.

Benefits

• Composite carbide structure offers exceptional impact resistance
• Smooth surface reduces material build-up and flow issues
• Extended wear life means fewer shutdowns and reduced safety risks during maintenance

Typical applications

Chute liners
Dump truck tray liners

Our standard thicknesses represent the combinations we manufacture and stock regularly to ensure fast turnaround and reliable availability.
Custom thicknesses can be created by combining various backing plate options, ranging from 6 mm to 15 mm, with overlays that vary from 5 mm to 25 mm.
The maximum total thickness we can manufacture is 40 mm.

What make our weld overlay plate so tough?

Microstructure of chromium carbide overlay welding showing fine, evenly distributed carbides within a tough matrix, designed for superior impact and abrasion resistance
1.Fine and even carbide distribution
2.Proprietary metallurgy
3.Advanced computerised welding

Research shows that carbide size directly impacts durability. Smaller, refined carbides are less prone to fracture, which helps extend the service life of the hardfaced steel plate—especially under impact.

This is exactly how our M70 weld overlay plate is engineered. Its microstructure features fine, evenly distributed carbides within a tough matrix, allowing it to absorb impact without cracking while maintaining excellent abrasion resistance. The result is a high-performance wear resistant alloy for demanding environments where both wear and impact resistance are critical.

Customer Case

Choosing the Right Weld Overlay Plate: FAQs

1. Is harder always better when it comes to wear plates?

Not necessarily. A common misconception is that higher hardness means better performance, but hardness alone doesn’t guarantee durability—especially under impact. What truly matters is the right balance of hardness and toughness. At Fusetech, we achieve this by combining proprietary chemical composition with controlled welding metallurgy to create weld overlay plates that resist both abrasion and impact. This balance ensures the plate can take a hit without cracking or failing prematurely.

M70 is a complex carbide overlay plate with a proprietary alloy and fine microstructure. Its uniformly distributed carbides in a tough matrix offer superior wear and impact resistance in high-impact environments.

M70 is ideal for high-impact zones such as ROM bins, hoppers, loader buckets, and chutes—anywhere materials are heavy, sharp, or cause repeated impact. These environments demand more than just surface hardness; they require a wear plate that can absorb shock and keep performing over time.
